Sunday thought

Danny keeps tellIng me that I need to wrIte In a journal of how fast our kIds are growIng. I haven't done a good job keeping up in my book type of journal but I figured this blog is like one so I just write here.  Since today is Sunday and I have some quiet time I decided to go through my pictures and I came across one I took of elia last week some time. Looking at the picture, observing her in an everyday setting and how she reacts to things makes me realize how much a mother's/fathers example influences a child's life.   This last month Elia has witnessed many blessing being given.  Danny and I decided that everytime we see our dad's (which isn't very often) to get a fathers blessing so Danny got one when we were in LA. I got one when my dad came to help me after baby was born. Elia received one cause she was sick and Danny gave me one before I had the baby.  So as a result of this one day I found her giving her brother a blessing because he was fussy.  She first said shh shh hermanito, put her hands on hIs head closed her eyes then went on in her own language for 2 seconds then stated an AMEN! My heart melted at that moment.
Im so thankful for moments like these because it reminds on those hard days to have more patience and that every Moment is a teaching/learning moment.
I sure do love being a mom
Happy Sunday

The birth story

After we got home from L.A Wednesday night, the following day Danny's brother came into town for some job interviews.  on Friday night before he left we went out to eat and boy did I eat like a champ!  I normally don't finish all my food but my plate was licked clean and I totally pulled the whole pregnancy card out to justify it.  Then early Saturday morning I sure paid for it.. I woke up having to go to the bathroom every 15 min with diarrea and threw up 3 times ( sorry a know, t.m.I) so pretty much all day Saturday I was in bed drinking water and trying to keep down anything I ate... I was convinced it was the food I ate or 24 hr. Stomach flu so to be safe I called my midwife to see what I should do... she mentioned it could be the stomach flu or my body preparing for labor and if I felt strong contractions to go in.... all I felt during that day was cramping but then I'd go to the bathroom and feel better... but just to be safe Danny started getting stuff ready around the house, went and bought food and I got elia's stuff together to leave her with our neighbors... we went to bed at midnight and I slept perfect till about 430 and that is when I felt my contractions coming... we dropped elia off and drove into Davis... we got there around 530. They started to monitor my contractions and the midwife came to check how far I was dilated to see if I should be admitted. Luckly I was 4 cent. 90% effaced. So they admitted me. I explained about my sickness the day before so they put an I.v in to give me fluids do to possible dehydration(then capped it off when i got in the tub) Danny had mentioned that I had a fast labor with Elia so the nurse went to fill up the tub and got the room ready ( the nurse and midwife that helped me were awesome) I got into the tub and labored there... which Helped along with Danny putting counter pressure on my lower back and hips.
This time around my water broke super late... I was at an 8 almost 9 when I felt it. During this whole time the nurse would monItor the baby's heartbeat while i was in the water and i guess with every strong contraction his heartbeat would drop and rIght when I was at the point of pushing to get the baby out they had me get out of the water onto the bed to get him out faster do to hIs heartrate droppIng.. the delivery part was the hardest for me this time around but after about 15min of full strength pushing he came out.  They normally place him on me but they had to monitor his breathing and heartrate for a couple mintues before giving him to me.  So from start to finish it took about 3.5-4 hrs
WIth thIs being my second natural birth I was able to noticed some differences between the 2 bIrths and also prepare myself better, mentally (readIng. About the hypnobIrthIng approached helped alot).  Danny kept saying how good I was doing throughout the whole labor process, although I kind of lost it for a minute when trying to get him out. The midwife and nurse kept complimenting Danny and I and how we made a good team.. it's true he did a lot better this time (:  but I think it came down to, I knew what to expect and I was able to work through the pain a lot better.
Daniel Patricio Bair weighed 8 lbs 9 oz 21 inches he was bigger and longer than Elia and I was 15 lbs lighter this time around ( thank you zumba).
That's pretty much how it went.we feel so blessed that he is a healthy growing boy.. he sure eats and poops like a champ ( still trying to master a diaper change without getting pee all over.  Elia adores him and we love that he is part of our family.... he was our family's Reyes (3 kings) present and we couldn't ask for anything better.
